Viral hepatitis is an infectious disease caused by hepatitis viruses, with degeneration, inflammation, and necrosis of liver cells as the main pathological changes. Clinically it is divided into hepatitis A (infectious hepatitis), hepatitis B (serum hepatitis), and hepatitis C, D, and E. The main clinical manifestations include poor appetite, aversion to greasy food, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, and diarrhea or constipation. In the acute stage, patients may also have fever, headache, dizziness, general fatigue, and insomnia. Physical examination may reveal an enlarged and tender liver; patients often complain of discomfort or pain in the liver region, and some have jaundice with yellowing of the conjunctiva and body. Liver function tests may show elevated transaminases and abnormal thymol turbidity, icteric index, and other liver function indicators.
