Chinese Name: 人参
Powerfully tonifies the original Qi, restores the pulse and rescues from collapse, tonifies the Spleen and Lungs, generates fluids and nourishes blood, calms the spirit and augments wisdom.
Chinese pharmacopoeia: 大补元气,复脉固脱,补脾益肺, 生津养血,安神益智。用于体虚欲脱,肢冷脉微, 脾虚食少,肺虚喘咳,津伤口渴,内热消渴,气血气虚,入病赢虚,惊己失眠 ,阳痿宫冷。
Shennong Bencao Jing (~200 CE): classified as a superior herb. 'Mainly tonifies the five viscera, calms the spirit, settles the ethereal and corporeal souls.'
